This is brilliant. Reading it, I just kept asking: "Can't it be the kids?" Which is a seductive mental block... feels like a a call-out to realize how much I've missed hiking and gin rummy.
Gin rummy!!!! I haven’t played since I moved away from Minnesota… I want to pick that back up, too. But, also, in my mind I’m seeing you two on beach walks and bike rides, and don’t I remember something about tennis, too? The kids are definitely a project, don’t get me wrong, but (in my working theory here (lol)) I’d count it more as an additional prerequisite for parents that doesn’t count toward the advanced course load, but does count against it without a passing grade.

So good to read you saying this “out loud” Abby! Our marriage was built on working together on many many projects! We still love it!
From what I've heard, two are totally this incarnate! The perfect case study ;) xx Thank you for reading!!
Thank you for writing!
Yes! This is also Donald Hall's "third thing" which he discusses in his work about his wife, poet Jane Kenyon. I so agree!
Oh my!! I’m not familiar with this. I can’t wait to learn more 💫💫💫 thank you ❤️
